Based in Portland, Oregon, Groundswell specializes in ecologically sensitive, naturalistic landscape design. We create site-specific outdoor spaces that balance the needs of people, plants, and wildlife. Our collaborative process empowers clients to engage deeply in building and caring for gardens that reflect their own unique character.

Abigail Pierce is a landscape designer, horticultural consultant, and interdisciplinary artist. Her interests involve multi-species design, labor and land care, and ecologically sensitive horticulture. Abigail received a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon, and a bachelor’s degree in Sculpture and Drawing from Bennington College. She has been a landscape and horticultural practitioner working in the Pacific Northwest for 20+ years.

Elisabeth Weinstein is a licensed landscape architect specializing in residential and hospitality projects on both coasts. Elisabeth’s greatest passion is imagining artful, nature-supporting, joyful spaces for homes and homes away from home. Elisabeth has a BFA from SFAI, studied advertising and design at RISD, Art Center, and attended the graduate program in landscape architecture at UCLA. Elisabeth has 20+ years working at the intersection of environment and design, most recently as Senior Project Designer with global design collective RIOS

Jason Yen wears many hats at Groundswell, keeping the business side running smoothly while also pitching in on design production and installation. With a background in animation, film & video, and later hands-on training in carpentry and electronics, Jason brings both creative and practical experience to the team. He helps with site surveys, base maps, and digital project visualizations, supporting the design work while making sure everything stays on track.
